“How do you spell ‘love’?” – Piglet
“You don’t spell it…you feel it.” – Pooh”
~a.a. milne
As a little girl, I used to pretend to carry my imaginary child on my hip and loved pretending to hold her hand and gently guide her through a store. It seemed so innate, so normal to me. I never once questioned that my purpose in life would one day be to answer the every need of two amazing little human beings that now call me mom. As women, many of us cannot remember a time when we didn’t see ourselves as mothers, but do we ever truly know our capacity to love before we become a mother? Becoming a parent is so all-encompassing and real that one can never begin to describe how it will feel. Looking into your child’s face for the first time brings with it a certain tenderness and a feeling that you will never be the same. Butterflies in your stomach, a wave of worry that will never go away and an almost-instantaneous need to forever protect this being from anything at all that isn’t perfect. What an amazing gift to have been given. I cherish seeing new parents being given that gift, and this wonderful family was no exception. How amazing to photograph a couple as they are on the cusp of parenthood, then to watch them embrace that role with such ease and love. Such a beautiful child, S family. Thank you for allowing me to document your beautiful journey.![]()
