My Confession + How the Samsung NX300 Smart Camera Has Changed the Way I Capture My Kiddos

So, I have a confession.

I am a professional photographer, yet most of the time I loathe bringing my heavy DSLR on personal family trips, or to capture the everyday activities of my kiddos…sooo, it was often left up to my trusty iPhone to capture those moments.

I know many of you can relate.

However, I recently have had the opportunity to become part of the Samsung Imagelogger program, and I have LOVED their new Samsung NX300.  As an Imagelogger, the camera and equipment has been provided to me by Samsung, and it has been nothing short of AMAZING, peeps. It makes my mama-heart SOAR.

Many of you have asked for my thoughts about my camera after seeing some photos from my new baby on Instagram, so here goes…
Let me say these things–it is a Smart Camera, meaning that it is a 20 megapixel, lean-mean-photo-taking machine with interchangeable lenses BUT I also can touch one little button + BOOM–I can transfer my photos from my camera to my phone or computer or Facebook in SECONDS. Wirelessly. Yep.

Here are some images from the NX300–thanks for letting me share in my giddiness!!!!! These were taken directly from my camera to my phone and did not touch any computer editing software at all.

Now, of course it does not replace my DSLR–I still use my Canon 5DmII to photograph client sessions and LOVE it. This is just the perfect camera for my everyday image captures of my family.

I cannot wait to try more lenses (the fisheye and the 85 1.4 are on my list)–squeal!!! Right now, I have the 30mm Pancake lens and I LOVE it!!!

All images in this post were taken with the Samsung NX300 SMART camera.  I have had the distinct opportunity to have been asked to participate in Samsung’s Imagelogger program, and in doing so, Samsung has provided me with the NX300 and gear to participate.  All opinions and thoughts are sincere, authentic and my own.  Over the next few months I will be sharing images taken with the NX300 SMART camera on social media and here on my blog.  I would love for you to follow along by checking out the #imagelogger hashtag!

My Confession + How the Samsung NX300 Smart Camera Has Changed the Way I Capture My Kiddos
Laura is a mother of two residing in the Arizona desert. She is fluent in Spanish and Toddler, believes that photo shoots with kiddos who love to run, climb stairs, play in rocks and giggle are some of the most fun, plans her next trip every week online (but only actually takes some of the trips), never met a container of Talenti Sea Salt Caramel gelato that she didn’t love and has more ideas and dreams than time. Laura loves capturing that beautiful family photo where everyone is cuddled close and looking at the camera, but adores capturing the in-between, sacred moments even more.

  • Laura Winslow Photography - You would LOVE it, Marni! 🙂

  • Callie - I now have another thing to add to my lists of wants!!! I have my 5dMk ii as well but rarely get it out for my kids! Now I gotta figure out how to budget it in!

  • Laura Winslow Photography - Callie, you would just love it! Gorgeous photos but SO convenient, easy, fast…all the things that a busy photographer mama needs! 😉

  • lindsay - What lens was used for the pics in the collage posted? Stunning!!!

  • Lea - How is this camera for action/sports shots? Doing some camera shopping & have looked at the Nikon DSLRs but you have peaked my interest in this camera. I want a camera that can capture my son playing sports, any thoughts on which might be better? Thanks!

  • Stefani - You have definitely made me think I need this too!! I just back back from family vacation (where I refuse/am scared to lug the “big one” around), and this would have been great! How does it do indoors though?

  • Christina - But these are edited, right? So you usually pop them into your software before sharing still? I mean, it’s awesome that its so small and lightweight, but are you sharing sooc?

  • Laura Winslow Photography - Hi Christina!
None of these actually touched my computer or computer editing software at all. Most are SOOC, but if I “edited” them, it was with my phone app, Pictapgo. I uploaded these right from my camera to my phone, so no Photoshop or other software at all. 🙂

  • Laura Winslow Photography - Stefani, so far I have yet to use the flash (there is a hot shoe for an external flash if you would like to use it), so I think it does amazing indoors! 🙂

  • Laura Winslow Photography - Lindsay, I used two lenses in these photos–some were taken with the 18-55 kit lens, some were taken with the 30mm pancake lens. 🙂

  • Laura Winslow Photography - Lea, if you visit the above link that takes you to the Facebook post, I posted an action shot and discussed that very question. Might be helpful to see. 🙂 Thanks!

  • Lea - Thank you, that was very helpful!
