“Of all the joys that lighten suffering earth, what joy is welcomed like a newborn child?”

~ Dorothy Nolte

Just a few sneak peeks right now of this darling baby girl.  I was so honored to photograph her older sis as a newborn a little over a year ago, and countless times in between.  :)   I still need to show some sneak peeks of this sweet little one’s birth day that I also had the opportunity to photograph.  Ahhh, so, so beautiful.  Love you all!

“The sweetest roamer is a boy’s young heart.”
~George Edward Woodberry

This little man was such a little ball of energy, and I loved every second of it!  He is such a doll and has the sweetest little smile.  We had fun exploring and running all around, and he got a sweet reward at the end in the form of a colorful Krispy Kreme donut.  Mmmm…makes you want to go grab one right now, right?  I think he enjoyed it, what do you think? :)

“It is in the nature of babies to be in bliss.”

~Deepak Chopra

This little one is just such a sweet, good-natured baby.  She was so happy and it was such a pleasure to photograph her and her parents in their beautiful, historic home.  It used to be a dance hall!  Their home is decorated with beautiful art and fabulous pops of color and was so fun to photograph in and around.  One of my favorite parts of their home is the home theater downstairs in part of what used to be the dance hall!  Thank you for such a fun session–it was wonderful to meet you.  Enjoy your few sneak peeks and I look forward to you seeing your gallery!

1. Jackson starts preschool tomorrow.  Whoa.  Whereever has the time gone?  He will be going three hours a day, three days a week now.  Not too long, but Addie and I sure will miss him for those three hours.  Now begins the busy time that will define our Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  Driving to and from preschool for a total of four trips in three hours might just make me insane, but I have a feeling that it is just the beginning now that Jack is in school.

2. Addie says “soorrryyy” now.  She says it in the sweetest little voice–often without prompting–and then gives Jack a big hug and a kiss as she says it.  I think sometimes she just does something so she can say sorry and give the loves.

3. This weather is slowly making me nuts.  Really, truly I do not recall it being quite this bad last year, although I am certain it was.   I long for the days of taking walks and going to the playground to return.  Oh, and for those of you that say, “At least it is a dry heat where you are.”–uh-uh.  No dry heat here.  Try crazy humidity and feeling like your organs are slowly wilting.  I loath the oven that I walk into on a daily basis.  To think that my whole life, summer was my favorite season.  Hmmpf.

4. I just bought three 20×30 float wraps of our children for our own house.  It makes me giddy and excited, like it is Christmas.  :)

5. Speaking of Christmas, booking my schedule this far out (into January) has me feeling like it is already the holidays.  Except for this insane heat.  The fact that whenever I walk into Walgreen, Hobby Lobby and WalMart I see an explosion of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas decorations doesn’t help.   Although we do still sweat while trick-or-treating.

6. I miss my family.  For different and unexpected reasons, I had to postpone our visit not once but twice since March.  Florida is great, but don’t you all want to move out here?

7. I am so busy and so tired that I sometimes forget what it feels like to get a full nights rest.  Oh, sleep, where are yooouuu?  Feel free to send some my way if you find any extra zzz’s. Not likely, though.  I think most of America is suffering from severe sleep deprivation. Who’s with me?

8. I am on the hunt for some classes to take Addie to while Jack is in preschool.  She so deserves some one-on-one mommy time.  When Jack was Addie’s age, he had a full, jam-packed social calendar replete with playdates, storytimes and classes.  Addie has playdates, but they always also include anywhere from one to six three year olds, too.  Ah, the life of a second child.

9. I think I am going to order this for Jack’s room.  Ever since we checked the book with the same name out from the library, we say it to one another.  It makes me laugh every time.  I think he would get a kick out of it.

10. I had the absolute honor of photographing a birth last night.  Such an awe-inspiring thing to watch a new life make its way into the world.  Mama was amazing and sweet baby girl is just gorgeous.  Images soon to follow. :)

“A laugh is a smile that bursts.”

~Mary H. Waldrip

I am a photo-proofing madwoman lately, but I just had to take time out to share a few of this absolute doll!  Ahh, I adore all ages, but there is just something so darn magical about a six month old…

Up next, more wedding images I have been hard at work on + several {designer love} posts!

“It was the tiniest thing I ever decided to put my whole life into.”
~Terri Guillemets

I had the honor of photographing this little man when I was hired by his grandmother (nana? grams?  I forgot to ask what you are called! :) ), and she found me all the way from her home in North Carolina.  I was so happy to meet this angel of a baby–he was sooo sweet and was one of the sleepiest little ones!  Usually during a newborn session I pull out my bag o’ tricks to get the little sweeties to fall into a deep slumber.  This session was reversed, though.  We couldn’t get the little man to wake up so I could capture him with his eyes open.  He was just so content.  I loved it!  Thank you for a wonderful session!  Enjoy your sneak peeks!

“Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother.”

~Lin Yutang

I just adore this beautiful mama.  :)   I first met her when she hired me to photograph her days-old first baby girl, and I have had the opportunity to photograph sweet little N and her family many times since.   Traci is just so incredibly fun and we have found ourselves chatting for hours on end on more than one occasion.  She was the talent behind the amazing hair of all the models at our recent Alice in Wonderland shoot.  Check her out and give her a call if you want a new ‘do–seriously, she rocks!  You will quickly find that she is one of the sweetest things around, too.  I am SO very excited that Miss N is going to be a big sis, and I cannot wait to meet their new precious joy.  Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your lives, I just love you all so much.  I look forward to watching your family grow! And to Dada S, I just haven’t gotten to the fam’ photos, but don’t worry–lots of fun ones with you, too!  :)
