“The law of love could be best understood and learned through little children.”

~Mahatma Gandhi

I love this family.  :)   This is the third time that I have had the opportunity to photograph them, and each time they arrive in the cutest coordinated outfits, right down to the socks, shoes and accessories.  I love the purple and gray combo–so fab!  I am loving watching their little sweetie grow up, too, and I look forward to photographing her again in the spring.  She is just so sweet,  handing me little flowers and leaves that she picked up throughout our session.  Thanks, sweetie–my kiddos loved checking them out! When I got home, I discovered that I had a ton of the leaves in all of my pockets.  :)   This family is always up for anything and loves to try new locations.  Thanks for trusting me, and thanks for always making the drive.  You are awesome!

“In family life, love is the oil that eases friction, the cement that binds closer together, and the music that brings harmony. “

- Eva Burrows

Do you see that blur?  :)   That’s little brother whizzing past me as I try to snap his photograph.  Whew!  What amazing energy he had–so fun!  When I first met this family and our session began, little bro was reserved and a bit dazed.  I asked if he had just woken up from a nap.  Sure enough, he was just waking up.  In no time at all, he was up and at ‘em.  He loved to zip back and forth and really enjoyed having his loving big bro chase him.  I just love it when kiddos have energy and a zeal for life.  My own son is the same way–always moving.  These are the moments that we fail to remember unless they are captured on film.  The playfulness and the hint of  mischieviousness in the eyes.  What a great family–thanks so much!!

“When you love your children from the moment they begin, you yourself begin all over again, in them, with them, and so there is something more to the world again.”

~William Saroyan

These are some of our dearest friends.  They are such beautiful people with such beautiful souls, really.  We met at a mommy’s group when our boys had just turned a year old.  Sometimes I feel we are leading parallel lives.   Our boys are six weeks apart and are such good buds–Jack always talks about his “Lukie”–and we welcomed our daughters into the world a mere seven weeks apart.   They were who we entrusted Jack to when I left him for the very first night in his life when I went into labor with Addison.  It is such a special thing to have someone who is experiencing all the same joys and challenges of motherhood as you, at often the exact same time.  It was a true pleasure to capture the love they have for one another and to photograph these two little beauties.  Jack is smiling at the computer screen right now, telling me, “Oh, there’s Lukie and there’s…”  He loves seeing his buds.  Thanks for your friendship, and thanks for a great session…oh and a yummy dinner afterwards!  :)   Love ya!

“To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.”

~Clara Ortega

I just love this family!  The kiddos had so much fun exploring all of the fun things at our location.  They were wonderful sports about the whole thing…I don’t think that a bribe–I mean trip to the toy store–had anything at all to do with it!  :)   I sure hope that little man was sweetly rewarded with the best rocket this town has ever seen!  They are so sweet and modeled so beautifully.  They really know how to turn those gorgeous smiles on on cue.  I just love to watch the bond that these two siblings have.  It makes me smile and think of how my own two children will be like that one day.  They already have such a bond, but it seems to get even more fun as they get older!  Thanks so much for braving the slight drizzle and chilly morning weather for our session, C family!  Love ya!!

“A brother is a friend provided by nature.”

~ Legouve Pere

It was wonderful to see this family again–can’t believe that it has been a year!  The brothers are still as handsome as ever and I couldn’t resist posting this shot of the two of them jumping.  They won for the highest jumps of the day!  Wow!!  :)   It was great to see you again, M family!! Thanks so much!

“A happy family is but an earlier heaven.”

~John Bowring

Wow.  This little redhead has grown up so much since I last saw her for her newborn session back in July.  She was a gorgeous newborn, and she is a gorgeous baby, too!  Check out those eyes!  I just love this family–so sweet and they adore their daughter.  I can’t wait until mama starts to sell some of the awesome kids clothes she makes!  Hint, hint girlie–get going!  He he! :)

“A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost.”

~Marion C. Garretty

Wow!  These two sisters and their mom were so fun!  They giggled and just had the best time with each other.  I adore the colors that they wore, too!  So bright and they totally made their photographs, don’t you think?  Their clothing choices really accented their eyes, too!

“Family faces are magic mirrors.  Looking at people who belong to us, we see the past, present, and future.”

~Gail Lumet Buckley

…and so were the first two times I got to photograph this family!  I last saw this sweetheart when she was a mere four days old, and she is now an alert little six week old.  Time flies! To me, it is one of the best compliments to have returning clients.  Almost all of my mini session clients this time were ones I have had the pleasure of photographing before.  It was wonderful to see all of you again!  You all rock!  Hope you’re enjoying your new camera!

“Love is what dreams are made of.”

~Anonymous

The gorgeous blue eyed sweetie that graces my website is back, and this time she brought the whole family.  :)   Lucky me, aren’t they some of the most photogenic people?  What a wonderful way to start off the most recent day of Holiday Mini Sessions!  It was a day filled with lots of beautiful and sweet people…so happy to have been able to photograph everyone!  More sneak peeks to come.  E family, thanks for getting up with the sun for a great session.  I must add, too, that you have two of the most polite children.  It was a pleasure!  Enjoy your sneak peeks!

“The finest clothing made is a person’s skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.”

~Mark Twain

One of the biggest questions that I am asked of my clients is, “What do I wear?”.  There are so many choices out there, and above all I want my clients to feel beautiful and comfortable.  That being said, what you wear can have a huge impact on the look of your portraits.  I’m not saying that you should go out and necessarily buy a new outfit, but these ideas and websites should let you look at your closet in a whole new way!  Some of my biggest suggestions are :

1.  Don’t be afraid to try bright, bold, fun colors.

2.  Accessories are your friend!  :)   Chunky necklaces, colored or textured scarves, cute hats and fun shoes (or no shoes at all!) all are fab-u!

3.  Layers look amazing in photographs, as do different textures.

4.  Coordinate a family, don’t match.  The outfits below are perfect examples.

5.  Little girls love tutus and pettiskirts, and they look great paired with a fun pair of leggings, a simple tank with a jean jacket and a fun beanie or bow.  You will forever remember how much fun your little sweetie had dancing around in her sweet, frilly outfit.

6.  It is always fun to dress boys in a button down shirt with a fun tee over it.  Boys also look so adorable in beanies or newsboy hats.

7.  Try to stay away from black and red.  Try brightness and color!

There are sooooo many more suggestions that I have–be on the lookout for more “What to Wear Wednesdays!”.
