Amazingness.  Not a word, I know, but when I think of this weekend’s Alice in Wonderland shoot, I just think to myself…amazingness.  Yep.    The past month was spent planning and organizing and dreaming of this shoot, and it was simply awesome to see it all come together.  So many incredibly talented designers and creative women were involved in this endeavor, and I want to thank each and every one of them.  I know you will love checking out their websites and blogs to learn more and to see more of their fabulous talent.

The tablescape was styled by the ultra-talented Kim of The TomKat Studio.  She did such an amazing job, don’t you think? She turned this dream tea party into a reality!!!

We had oh-so-much fun this weekend at the photo shoot for Finley + Oliver’s newest collection.  Six kiddos under the age of five, an uber-fab location (check out the chicken and those huge grapefruits!!!) and fun clothing made for an amazing morning.  Our {mod babe} contest winners were absolute naturals in front of the camera and I just wanted to squeeze them both they were just that cute!!  They both have the most stunning eyes, don’t you think?  I adore the newest tees and girl’s tunics from Finley and Oliver–they are so comfy and perfect for your little one to play around in or for a photo shoot.  They are so versatile.  Thank you to everyone for a wonderful morning–more sneakie peekies to come!

So, it’s no secret that I adore all that designer Stephanie of Ivy and A creates.  I must share some of my shoots that I have had the pleasure of photographing with my clients wearing her ahhhh-mazing clothing.  How happy would I be if your kiddo showed up in one of these outfits?!  Happy, I tell you!    Stephanie just has a knack for pairing uber-cool fabrics with one another in the most adorable boutique designs.  Her style really lends itself well to style of photography, too.  Bright pops of colors, fresh style and contemporary textiles.  I swoon each time I see a new design, seriously.  Her outfits are so fun to accessorize and the possibilities for your session are endless!  Don’t you just want to smile just looking at all these sweeties having fun?

One of the most important considerations for your session is what you are going to wear.  You want to feel comfortable, relaxed and fun!  I always suggest to my clients that they wear something that is a little more than what they would wear on a typical day but that is still them.   Textures, interesting and vibrant colors, chunky jewelry, headbands, hats, fun shoes, scarves and layers are all fabulous additions to any photograph.  Here is a little quick inspiration for all my fab female clients–have fun!!  P.S.  If you are curious as to where these are from…contact me and we’ll set up a session!

One of the biggest questions that I am asked of my clients is, “What do I wear?”.  There are so many choices out there, and above all I want my clients to feel beautiful and comfortable.  That being said, what you wear can have a huge impact on the look of your portraits.  I’m not saying that you should go out and necessarily buy a new outfit, but these ideas and websites should let you look at your closet in a whole new way!  Some of my biggest suggestions are :

1.  Don’t be afraid to try bright, bold, fun colors.

2.  Accessories are your friend!    Chunky necklaces, colored or textured scarves, cute hats and fun shoes (or no shoes at all!) all are fab-u!

3.  Layers look amazing in photographs, as do different textures.

4.  Coordinate a family, don’t match.  The outfits below are perfect examples.

5.  Little girls love tutus and pettiskirts, and they look great paired with a fun pair of leggings, a simple tank with a jean jacket and a fun beanie or bow.  You will forever remember how much fun your little sweetie had dancing around in her sweet, frilly outfit.

6.  It is always fun to dress boys in a button down shirt with a fun tee over it.  Boys also look so adorable in beanies or newsboy hats.

7.  Try to stay away from black and red.  Try brightness and color!
