“Photograph: a picture painted by the sun without instruction in art. ”
~Ambrose Bierce
*Sigh* My head is always swimming with new and interesting ideas of how I can display the thousands of photographs that I have of my children and family. Yep, I have taken thousands (millions?!), but there are always those cherished ones that really hit you and you think, “I need to hang this!”. Alternatively, you hire a custom photographer and invest in gorgeous canvas or print wall art…then, what do you do with them? Here is a little inspiration to get you dreaming and planning…love these!! Think beyond an album, beyond the photos on the computer, beyond the desk prints and go big! It really does make a huge impact. I have a wall of nine 20×20 frames matted to 12×12 on a large wall in my office (I will have to photograph it and share one of these days…). I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see the smiles of my children displayed so prominently.
Like this one…you would probably never, ever think to go quite this big, but how could you ever be in a bad mood when you were in this room, looking at these smiling faces?!
Just looking at this makes me grin!

I love the simplicity and symmetry of this display…

This display is just so personal in that it combines photos of your children with framed pieces of their art. The colors pretty much rock, too.

{Do you have a fun wall display? Share it with us! Email me over a pic!}

Ummm, yep. I seriously would do this! What a statement!! No need to say more, it speaks for itself, don’t you think?

Send your wall display photos to me–big or small, black + white or color…we want to see them! Inspire us!

“Siblings–the definition that comprises love, strife, competition and forever friends.”
~Byron Pulsifer
We traveled to California for the long weekend to visit family. These three are my adorable cousins, and it was so.much.fun to see them again.

It had been awhile–the last I saw them, I was pregnant with Jackson. My children had never met them, so I was so happy for everyone to be together. In my mind’s eye, they were small children that loved to run around, hunting for bugs and sweetly coloring at a table. I got to know three very much older-acting tweens (and a teen) this weekend.
D, the oldest, I quickly discovered loves all things aquatic. He is intelligent and curious.
The lone girl in between two brothers, S, still loves to be creative and has such a sweet, mothering side. She happily chased after Addie as she ran from room to room and watched out for her the whole weekend.
Little S is the kind-hearted, banana-loving (his nickname is Monkey) younger bro. He loves donuts with sprinkles and can row a mean paddle board.
It was a fabulous feeling to get to know my cousins all over again in these new stages of their lives. We had a blast and stayed busy the whole weekend. How fun that we now live on the same side of the country. Thanks for showing us SUCH a wonderful time!!
xoxo,
laura

“A toddling little girl is a centre of common feeling which makes the most dissimilar people understand each other.”
– George Eliot
I first met this darling little girl and her wonderful parents when she was six months old and just beginning to crawl. I instantly was endeared to her sweet smile, her pouty lips and amazing eyes. Her mom, Vicki, and I became fast friends.
This wonderful little girl is so full of life and spirit, and I feel honored to have the opportunity to photograph her again now at a year old. This stunning location made my heart skip a beat and had me clicking the shutter the entire time. At a year, this sweetie has adorable, wispy curls, the same blue eyes that you can get lost in, a self-confidence to be jealous of, and the beginnings of a Spanish vocabulary. We had a great time–we only had to resort to bribery once or twice. I’m not so sure how well our currency worked, though…who uses ice to bribe a child on a 90 degree day in Arizona?
Thanks for a wonderful session! Enjoy your sneak peeks…

“A daughter is a bundle of firsts that excite and delight,
giggles that come from deep inside and are always contagious,
everything wonderful and precious and your love for her knows
no bounds.”
– Barbara Cage
Oh, how I love this little sweetie. I first met her when I photographed her as a newborn, then when she was around 4 months old, and now at nine months. I LOVE my job, and I ADORE my clients! How absolutely amazing to be able to watch this little princess grow right before my eyes! She is such a treasure and was a wonderful little model. T, I got that adorable little nose scrunch she does on camera…but I’m going to make you wait to see it, sorry! He he! I love you guys!! Thank you so much–I can’t wait to capture the new big sis and the new baby in the fall, too! Aww, my sweet girl is growing up! Enjoy your sneakie peekies!

“I don’t understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine’s Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.”
~Author Unknown
Happy Valentine’s Day! Last night we had a little incident. Jackson was a bit confused, and it just broke my heart. You see, in the month leading up to Christmas we had Nemo the Elf staying with us so he could watch over Jack and Addie and then report back to Santa. When Christmas was over, Bob thought it best that Jack’s “buddies” (his tattered, extremely well loved bear that he has had since he was born) go back to the North Pole with Nemo. After a few days and seeing that Jack very much missed his Buddies, I decided that he should return.
Fast forward to last night, when I hear Jack sobbing in his bed. When I went to his room, he said, “Maybe if I hide buddies behind my back or in the bathroom Cupid won’t take him!”
I guess Cupid, in the mind of a three year old, is much like Nemo the Elf. Apparently he takes children’s lovies. How sad! He broke my heart hearing his concern and saddness. I of course reassured him that no one would take his beloved buddies and that he would be with us for some time. All was well, and Jack happily asked where Cupid was this morning.
Happy Valentine’s Day, folks.

“To the outside world, we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.”
~Clara Ortega
I just love this family! The kiddos had so much fun exploring all of the fun things at our location. They were wonderful sports about the whole thing…I don’t think that a bribe–I mean trip to the toy store–had anything at all to do with it!
I sure hope that little man was sweetly rewarded with the best rocket this town has ever seen! They are so sweet and modeled so beautifully. They really know how to turn those gorgeous smiles on on cue. I just love to watch the bond that these two siblings have. It makes me smile and think of how my own two children will be like that one day. They already have such a bond, but it seems to get even more fun as they get older! Thanks so much for braving the slight drizzle and chilly morning weather for our session, C family! Love ya!!
