In the event that the winning baby does not sit up on their own by the date of the shoot, we reserve the right to contact the runner up and instead consider the winning baby for alternate shoots when they can sit up on their own.  Please refer to this blog post for full details. Thank you for understanding.  :)

“I don’t understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine’s Day.  When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.”

~Author Unknown

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Last night we had a little incident.  Jackson was a bit confused, and it just broke my heart.  You see, in the month leading up to Christmas we had Nemo the Elf staying with us so he could watch over Jack and Addie and then report back to Santa.  When Christmas was over, Bob thought it best that Jack’s “buddies” (his tattered, extremely well loved bear that he has had since he was born) go back to the North Pole with Nemo.  After a few days and seeing that Jack very much missed his Buddies, I decided that he should return.  :)   Fast forward to last night, when I hear Jack sobbing in his bed.  When I went to his room, he said, “Maybe if I hide buddies behind my back or in the bathroom Cupid won’t take him!”

I guess Cupid, in the mind of a three year old, is much like Nemo the Elf.  Apparently he takes children’s lovies.  How sad!  He broke my heart hearing his concern and saddness.  I of course reassured him that no one would take his beloved buddies and that he would be with us for some time.  All was well, and Jack happily asked where Cupid was this morning.

Happy Valentine’s Day, folks.  :)

This new little family was just so incredibly sweet and in love with their new daughter.   During newborn sessions, there is plenty of time for feeding, soothing and lulling baby back to sleep.   So, we had a little downtime to chat while this sweetie was getting her little belly fed.  As we were chatting, I teared up as the new dad said, “If I would have known that it was going to be this good, I would have had children a long time ago.”  That, my friends, is the magic of parenthood.  Something that, before it happens to you, seems wonderful–but when you actually have a baby of your own you realize that wonderful will never be enough to describe the love, emotions and protectiveness you feel toward this small human being.  I don’t think there is a word strong and all-encompassing enough in the English language to describe what happens to you when you become a parent.  I love being able to see that happen to new parents when I meet them and their days-old son or daughter for the first time.   Ah, bliss.  This little peanut weighed in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces and was so beautiful.  She snoozed happily and was such an agreeable little model.  She worked up quite the appetite by the end of the session.   It was wonderful to meet all of you and to talk with you.  Thanks so much for opening your home.  Enjoy your sneak peeks!
