“The law of love can best be understood and learned through little children.”

This little sweetie and her sis were just naturals in front of my lens.  I had so much fun their beautiful mama’s maternity session, and I was so excited to meet this little Addison Grace (it is, after all, a pretty special name to me!!).  She was just so darling–calm, sweet, beautiful and with the sweetest little serious look.  What a fun session!  Thank you so much, L family!  It was a pleasure!

Just one of this sweet baby girl for now…more to come!  Loved her session!!

“A tiny daughter gives parents a life in a climate of perpetual wonder.”
– Pierre Doucet

This adorable sweetie was such a doll–and so were her mama and grandma!  I ended up coming down with an infection from my surgery right smack dab in the middle of this session!  Can you believe it?!  I felt SO horrible–both physically and because I felt so bad that I wasn’t entirely my normal upbeat, happy self.   Mama and g-ma couldn’t have been any sweeter, though!  Thank you, thank you ladies!  Despite the snafu, I LOVED this session and the backyard that we shot in.  Baby girl is just soooo adorable I could just snuggle her all day!  Newborn sessions outdoors are some of my faves to do–babies are usually lulled to sleep because of the warm breeze and sounds of birds and trees swaying, and I just love nature!  Definitely consider it for your newborn session!  :)   Thanks again, ladies–all three of you!

nothing else in the world. It knows no
law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes
down remorselessly all that stands in its path. ”

I am crazy busy with proofing sessions right now, but I wanted to share just one from this recent newborn session.  Ahhh, such sweetness between a mother and daughter…more sneakies to come soon!  :)

A special thanks to Kim of The TomKat Studio and Project Nursery (and a contributor many other places! :) ) for featuring the nursery of one of my clients! This mama has such an eye for design and I instantly loved this little tiger’s mod owl room.   How fun that Kim shared it with the Project Nursery readers!  I just adore that site–head on over and check it out!  There is a ton of inspiration for designing your child’s nursery, room, party planning + so much more.  Some of my fave features are the DIY Projects and the Fabulous Finds.  What’s yours?  Love their style, and I know you will too.  :)   Thanks so much, Kim + Project Nursery, and thanks to mama A for sharing your design inspiration with us!  Love ya–give that little sweetie kisses!

“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. she never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.”

This sweet little girl was welcomed into the world just four short days ago.  FOUR DAYS!  I am so, so lucky to be able to hold and cuddle such precious little beings mere days after they made their arrival in the world.  She has the cutest little lips that she loved to curl into a pout and is just a tiny little thing.  I adored the way the new family looked, cooing at their new baby girl under the shade of a large tree, the grass blowing in the wind.  Big sis –seen here awaiting the arrival of her sibling–was so protective of her little one and happily positioned herself at her feet.

How amazing to witness a family being born as well.  Such a strong, life changing time in one’s life.  To become a parent is life-altering, and I love being able to see that happen to others.  I feel honored to have been allowed a glimpse into your cocoon of new-parent bliss.  Thank you for letting me capture your miracle.  Enjoy your sneak peeks.  :)

This session was supposed to be a maternity session.  His mama was anxiously anticipating her session, but this little man had other plans.  He arrived six weeks early, causing his mama to forego both her maternity session and her plans for a belly cast.  Do you think she even gives it a second thought now, though?  Look what she has instead–a perfect, precious little baby boy.  :)   He was just 4 pounds, 14.9 ounces, but is so, so healthy for a preemie.  He loved basking in the sun during our session and was in a deep slumber in no time.  I love outdoor sessions for newborns–especially at this time of year.  They love the warm weather and the slight breeze.  Perfect!  He even snoozed away as we put the little guy inside of a snowboard helmet (dad is an instructor).   Adorable!  Thank you for a wonderful session, G family!

This sweet little man was just a joy to meet–and his wonderful family, too!  They were referred to me first via Louisiana, then from a friend in Texas–thanks J and A!  ;)   They are so happy to welcome their little tiger (it is the Chinese year of the tiger, and that was his nickname  while he was inside mommy–adorable, right?!), and he is just so precious.   I just loved this session–from the beautiful design of the nursery, to the amazing green velvet chair to the great conversation…I could have stayed forever!  I particularly love when items with sentimental value are used for newborn sessions.  It just touched me when grandma told me that this beautiful chest that the little guy is snoozing on was passed down through several generations.  She reminisced of lining it with paper to take it to college, and noted the lovely handles her own father had made.   I hope they will, as the years pass by, find happiness and meaning in looking back at this photograph of their sweetie on this chest.  Their protective doggie is even in the background keeping a watchful eye on her new brother.  :)

Thank you for choosing me to document this amazing time in your lives, it was an honor and a pleasure to meet you.  Enjoy your sneak peeks!

~George Bernard Shaw

This little sweetheart is just such a doll, and I adored his wispy blonde hair!  I love his nursery, too!  SO adorable!!  Check out his name on the wall!  He might have had a bit of an eventful arrival, but he is just as calm as can be and simply perfect.  He is a wonderful eater, and as is usual with newborn sessions, we worked around his schedule so that he was content and had a full belly.  What a little angel!  The new mom and dad are obviously overjoyed and so in love with their new little man.  How could you not be?!  I also enjoyed chatting with them–it was such a pleasure to meet the both of you.  Thank you for having me to your home and trusting me with these amazing first moments of you miracle.  Enjoy your sneak peeks!

“Because time itself is like a spiral, something special happens on your birthday each year:  The same energy that God invested in you at birth is present once again.”

~Menachem Mendel Schneerson

One.  So hard to believe.  My sweet Addison is one today.  Everyone tells you how fast time flies, but it is hard to really feel what they are talking about until you experience it yourself.   I have a mixture of emotions today.  I am sad that my baby is growing up, I am happy for her smiling little face, I feel content that we made it through that first, wonderful year that is also filled with challenges–a year of many sleepless nights trying to help her figure out a sleep schedule, countless hours of nursing, teething and getting used to having two very young children.  See, though, it is hard to call these “challenges”, because as I write this I just see the amazing blessing.  All those nights spent up with Addison in the wee hours of the night nursing her each time she awoke were precious, quiet moments that I got to spend with her and only her.  Moments that I already long for and miss.  I *almost* want to wake her up some nights just to rock her.  Notice I say almost.  :) Sleep can happen when I’m old.  Right now I have my beautiful children.  My mind travels back to laboring with her and wanting so badly to bring her into the world with peace and love and calmness and being present.  Realizing as she lie next to me in the still of the night with her big, wide eyes staring back at me and not making a sound, that THIS is how it is supposed to be.  THESE are the amazing first moments of having a baby.  Not being drugged up, not tears and sadness, not fear and worry, not wires and ventilators or not holding your baby for ten days.  Addison, you healed me.  I saw that those first days can be relaxing and exhilarating.  You make me so happy and I feel so incredibly blessed to have both you and your brother.  I love the relationship the two of you already have–you one and Jackson three.  Wow.  I have a one year old and a three year old.  How did that happen?!  The past three hundred and sixty five days have been nothing short of spectacular, my love.  Here’s to enjoying the joy of a million more.

all the love in the world,

mommy
